About Suzuki learning
Suzuki learning is recognized as a great way to build poised and successful students, wonderful musicians and family memories. Parents will learn along with the children and teach them at home using easy and fun techniques to instill love and self-discipline as well as musical knowledge. We will learn our technique slowly and precisely while we listen to our recordings and play our pieces on keyboard, then learn the pieces carefully watching our videotapes, teacher, parents, and class friends. Learn more about the Suzuki approach at https://suzukiassociation.org/about/suzuki-method/
We'll branch out with fiddle pieces, holiday songs, Suzuki institutes, and private and public performances. We love to perform! Visitors are welcome, let Kari know beforehand at kari.gunderson@hotmail.com
Limited sign-ups are available. Visitors and families exploring Suzuki violin study are welcome to email kari.gunderson@hotmail.com to arrange a time to get together.

Summer schedule: 2020
Fees will be $30 for classes, which assumes that you'll attend three of the five weeks of classes from June 8 – August 1. Can you come to more? They're free. All of us will have summer alternatives, some with Suzuki institutes which will give us new ideas.
I’ve made the summer flexible for all of us. You'll sign up and pay for private lessons when you will be here and available. Each half-hour lesson is $25, and you'll pay for these when you sign up to reserve the space.
On June 3 I'll have a separate sign-up sheet for each week, so rather than reserving a steady weekly time, as we do during the school year, you'll reserve those available times on the days which you will be available.
The book 5 - 7 class will play our Suzuki music, some virtuoso pieces, fiddle and folk music, Barbara Barber Scales for Advanced Students, and ukulele.
The book 1-3 class will play our Suzuki pieces, fiddle pieces, and harmonica.
Class schedule:
Wednesdays: Book 5-7, classes on Zoom, surprise pop-up, or Kari's home 6:30 - 7:30.
Thursdays: Book 1-3, classes on Zoom, surprise pop-up, or Kari's home 6:30 - 7:30.
Let’s use our June 3 lawn recital as a testing ground for meeting alternatives. On June 3, please bring your own lawn chairs, wear masks, and use the hand sanitizers provided if you and Kari are both handling your violin. (I’ll want to at least eyeball all instruments to be sure bridges aren’t leaning, tuners not all the way in for the younger class, no false strings.) Then we’ll have our class on Kari’s lawn and driveway, and perhaps spill over into our friendly neighbor’s area.
If this seems to be workable for everyone, we might meet In Real Life at different spots during the summer – your home or your bright idea. The WFB high school front porch near where we got our start? An outdoor restaurant with seating and refreshments provided? Imagination welcome!

A terrific way for child and parent to have fun, to learn about each other and how to learn, to deepen connections to music, and to become even better violinists. Many of us go to this every summer!

Picnic and play-in Sunday, September 8, 4:30 at Estabrook Park
We'll join Carol Waldvogel and our friends at Northshore Suzuki Strings for a casual, fun time at picnic site #6, south of the Biergarten, on the west side of the road through Estabook park. Bring your family, fiddle, perhaps table and chairs if you have them, your own drinks, a dish to share, and outdoor games.
We'll branch out with fiddle pieces, holiday songs, Suzuki institutes, and private and public performances. We love to perform! Visitors are welcome, let Kari know beforehand at kari.gunderson@hotmail.com
